Last week, we announced the relaunch of the MBI Model Portfolio.

Thank you for the incredible response. So many of you told us the new version is exactly what you’d been hoping for - and the support pushed us to #5 in the world for Rising in Finance.

Above Michael Burry, no less.

Today’s post is a full walkthrough of the tool: how to navigate it, and how to get the most out of every feature.

At the end, I'll share some of the reasoning behind how I've sized each position - and stick around, because there's also a 4th of July offer being extended for just a few more hours that you won't want to miss…

Logging in

The Model Portfolio is completely live - you can open it any time. A fresh link is generated each week, which you’ll always find in the research portal, as well as at the bottom of this post.

The dashboard

Once you’ve opened the link, this is the first page you’ll land on.

Under the disclaimer you’ll find the navigation tabs, which take you through every section of the portfolio. The main dashboard gives you an at-a-glance view of the key info:

  • Portfolio value

  • Total profit or loss

  • Holdings breakdown

You’ve also got the option to copy the portfolio straight into your own account if you’d like to track it alongside your own.

Holdings and cost basis

Scroll a little further and you’ll see the full list of holdings. This is where the big upgrade lives: you can now see the cost basis on every position, alongside its total profit and its share of the portfolio.

Click any individual name and it opens a full, detailed page for that holding.

Here's an example with Eton Pharmaceuticals, Inc. - a company now up over 120% since we first profiled it.

Diversification

Head back to the dashboard and use the navigation tab to open the Diversification view.

This gives you a clear picture of the portfolio as a whole, and lets you break it down whichever way you like - by sector, asset class, currency, region, or country.

Performance

The Performance page lets you benchmark the Model Portfolio against any index you see fit.

Another major step up from the old tool: you can now also see the performance of each individual holding, not just the portfolio as a whole.

Metrics

The Metrics page goes a level deeper. Here you’ll find the portfolio’s time-weighted return - which strips out the effect of cash going in and out, so the number reflects the decisions rather than the flows - along with the overall portfolio P/E ratio and a range of risk metrics for anyone who wants to dig into them.

Transactions

Finally, the Transactions tab keeps you up to date with every move in the portfolio - buys, sells, and dividends - as they happen.

A note on how I size positions

Before I wrap up, a word on why the portfolio looks the way it does, because the sizing isn’t random - it follows one principle:

Conviction has to be earned, not assumed.

I build the portfolio like a pyramid.

At the base sits a wider spread of smaller positions - cheap auditions, if you like - where a name has a clear thesis and a near-term catalyst but hasn’t yet proven itself in the portfolio.

These stay small on purpose, because at that stage I’m paying for optionality, not backing a certainty. If the thesis fails, it fails at a size that barely moves the book. If it works, it earns the right to grow.

As a position confirms - as the business delivers and the risk on the original idea falls - it climbs the pyramid, from a toehold into a building position, and eventually, for the very best names, toward the top, where I’m willing to concentrate real weight.

That top is narrow by design.

Only a handful of ideas ever deserve to sit there, and they get there by proving themselves, not because I decided on day one that they would.

That’s why you’ll notice the portfolio opens flatter and wider than you might expect, with a healthy cash reserve and no single position dominating.

That isn’t indecision - it’s the structure working as intended.

Concentration is the end state, not the starting point.

Size is the reward a position earns by being right, and my job is to let capital flow toward whatever confirms while pruning the auditions that don’t.

Bringing it together

I hope you found this walkthrough useful and like the look of the tool I’m now using to share the portfolio with all of you. I think it sets up a far stronger foundation going forward.

For paid subscribers, it now means you get both:

  • A live model portfolio - every position, cost, and weight, updated as I run it.

  • A live research archive - every thesis and update, one click away, so the reasoning behind each name is always there to revisit.

…all for one membership to Multibagger Ideas.

🇺🇸 One last thing:
